As a young man my father helped organize the 1199 Union at Western Psychiatric Institute. George Ehrlich and Sam McGill, my fatherʼs co-workers and close friend participated in the organization efforts as well. This is a photo from the strike they organized. My mother lost her job at the hospital because she refused to cross the picket line. In this photo I see issues that Pittsburgh is still struggling with - balancing the workerʼs needs against those of a medical bureaucracy.
