My father was born in Pittsburgh and ran away from home as a teenager. My uncle went to the west coast and found him and brought him home when he was in his twenties. While my dad was in California he somehow ended up as an extra in the film classic, "All Quiet on the Western Front." Although he was Slovak he played a German soldier in World War 1. This is the oldest photograph of my father.
