This is a photograph of my mom, Janet Marie Callahan, dressed up to go to the prom. She was 16 years old in this picture. Young and full of anticipation. She couldn't imagine then that she would be married, divorced and remarried having six children to raise. She was a sweet souled person and had heartache worrying about my brother that suffered with schizophrenia. Along with all the turmoil, she still taught me empathy and responsibility. She was brave and always told me she should write a book because she saw it all. She had brain surgery as a child and could have died from blood clots in her brain. A young well trained pediatrician knew what to look for and saved her life. She passed away at the age of 61 years. She had Soft Tissue Sarcoma and fought hard with grace.
